چکیده
Hurricane Matthew affected the eastern region of Cuba from October 4th to 5th causing large damages and numerous landslides. This research presents an inventory landslides triggered by hurricane. Visual interpretation satellite images moderate resolution Sentinel 2A instrument localized higher provided PlanetScope, as well field were main sources information. The resulting landslide was compared with other factors such slope, geology, soil deep composition maps at a scale 1:100 000. Data recorded 1-hour rain gauges 24-hour gauge also analyzed in order identify rainfall thresholds for occurrence during influence study region. A total 619 identified classified rockslide, rockfall or debris flows. found slope not important factor type rock. Most located areas green shale volcanic vulcanoclastic rocks ophiolitic complex formed ancient remnants oceanic crust. accumulate threshold estimated event between 178-407 mm/day.

Landslides Triggered by Hurricane Hugo in Eastern Puerto Rico, September 1989
– On the morning of September 18, 1989, a category-four hurricane struck eastern Puerto Rico with a sustained wind speed in excess of 46 m/sec. The 24-h rainfall accumulation from the hurricane ranged from 100 to 339 mm. Average rainfall intensities ranging from 34 to 39 mm/h were calculated for 4 and 6 h periods, respectively, at a rain gage equipped with satellite telemetry, and at an observe...

متن کاملDistributed modelling of shallow landslides triggered by intense rainfall
Hazard assessment of shallow landslides represents an important aspect of land management in mountainous areas. Among all the methods proposed in the literature, physically based methods are the only ones that explicitly includes the dynamic factors that control landslide triggering (rainfall pattern, land-use). For this reason, they allow forecasting both the temporal and the spatial distribut...
متن کاملOptimized volume models of earthquake-triggered landslides
In this study, we proposed three optimized models for calculating the total volume of landslides triggered by the 2008 Wenchuan, China Mw 7.9 earthquake. First, we calculated the volume of each deposit of 1,415 landslides triggered by the quake based on pre- and post-quake DEMs in 20 m resolution. The samples were used to fit the conventional landslide "volume-area" power law relationship and t...
